The kid does drama

My niece and her drama presentation.  Of course, while I'm avidly following the story, my sister texts me to say that my nephew, who's sitting in between us, is passing gas. Good for a giggle.

Communing with nature

I had the best walk today after work.  Gorgeous weather, great neighborhood.  Guess I could have taken a picture of something a little more interesting on my walk, but nothing fantastic jumped out at me. So this is what you get.

Baby Smith

This is Jenny's pregnant belly. She was uncomfortable today. She put a sticky note on her belly with a heart-felt (or should I say belly felt) message. Sorry, girl, I can't relate.

Breakfast at Barbec's

Barbec's for breakfast. Local greasy spoon. Get some coffee from your waitress, Flo. And chat up nice gentlemen, like this fella, Scooter's dad. Never got his name but he's Scooter's dad. He asked me to email the picture to Scooter with the caption "Breakfast without you."  He was proud cuz his buddy who stood him up for breakfast because it was misting outside was losing out on conversation with the pretty ladies. Nice.

Wondering what this is? Its not art in case you were guessing. I'll tell what it isn't.  Isn't going to be worn on my body. Went shopping yesterday and the store was filled with the most hideous prints I could find. Everywhere. Ick.

Driving around

Nothing fancy here. Just driving around Highland Park to kill some time before going to a gathering. Its very pretty in this area...lots of greenbelts and trees. This was in a little park.

Prayers for a little yellow kitty

This is Atticus. He's no bigger than a minute but try and put him in a cat carrier to go to the vet and lets see how you handle it. I have to take him in on Friday for an ultrasound. Wish me luck. He has this miraculous ability to read my mind and then his limbs grow two feet longer when he's being put into a cat carrier. Amazing.

Hangin' in the OC

We spent the entire day in Oak Cliff today. I saw parts of it I'd never seen before...seems like I've spent a lot of time in Oak Cliff lately anyway. I lived there until I was about 7 years old. Then we moved on. Been back a few times to reminisce, but today was different. Did lots of exploring. I dig the vibe. Went to the 2nd annual Oak Cliff Art Crawl. Good times.

Its fancy French

So here's my creative way of saying I had no photo for April 8th. I realize that my little experiment has technically failed since I haven't taken a photo every single day. However, I will forge ahead.

This is a work thing. Love the design of the peacock...thank you Jenny Smith...and I'm tired of the peacock because its all I have looked at for the past month. You know how it is.

Looking up

This is how I felt today. One bulb short of full luminosity. But the weather is warm and I feel better tonite than I did last night so I guess things are looking up.

Feeling like a loser

So this whole blog thing is a journey, its a lesson and most of all, its no fun right now. While I enjoy taking pictures, I'm not liking the reality that is staring me in the face. I do the same freaking thing every day and my photo blog shows it in big fat letters. I got to the end of the day, AGAIN, and found myself with no interesting photo. I don't think the quality has been good or interesting for a while now. But I continue to do this. Either I have to make stuff happen and make it interesting or continue to hope it will just happen to me. Either way is fine. I have a rule though. I will not substitute something else on a day that I didn't take a photo. I will be honest with myself and with you. If I take nothing, something depicting nothing will appear in its spot, however creative. Its my way of shouting out to you that I'm embarrassed that I couldn't find anything interesting to photographc in my 24 hours of life. I'm trying to pace myself with the cat pictures.

I have no words

Well, its come to this already. Sensationalism. I was going to post something bland and mundane..something like a picture at a bookstore...then it happened. I was watching tv and "Octopus Man" was on again. I grabbed my camera because I'm a freak who can't NOT look at this stuff, even though it pains me. Its a guy who has extra limbs...what you're looking at is the extra legs his dead twin brother left in him in utero. Eep. It never fails to get to me when his wife starts to braid the little tuft of hair on his "appendage." Makes my stomach a little sour.

Deep Ellum Arts Festival

Annual Deep Ellum Arts Festival.  Music, people, artwork. Not too bad. Usually good for something interesting and almost always good for a new piece of cheap bling. Never fails to provide good people watching.

Stiff stuff

Not much going on today. Day off. Wandering. Ducked into this little shop...while interesting to me, this thing would probably scare me in the middle of the night. They did have my favorite Trapp candle though. Bonus.

So did you guys notice this today? I went to do a search for something and Google had turned into Topeka. A little April Foolsery by Google, who had their name honored by the town of Topeka, Kansas for the month of April. True. Look it up.
